Tyshara's Story
Tyshara Lawson graduated from Oakland University with her bachelor’s degree in business management, and a master’s degree in leadership from Central Michigan University. She holds certifications in diversity, equity, & inclusion as well as change management. She started her career in the entrepreneurship and business development space by interning for Oakland County, Michigan, and staying full time afterwards. This role helped develop her passion for research, business planning, and sales. She has worked for AT&T, Apple, & Microsoft in multiple capacities, across four States.
Ms. Lawson currently works as a program manager for Microsoft where she also serves as an employee resource group leader. Her 15 years of professional experience includes small business consulting, B2B sales, account management, retail leadership, corporate event hosting, and DEI strategy and implementation. As a people leader she operates in the capacity of a servant leader, consistently advocating for, and motivating those who have worked for her. This has resulted in many of her direct reports experiencing significant career growth.
Tyshara Lawson born and raised in Detroit, MI where she comes from a family lineage of blue-collar auto workers & entrepreneurs. In her free time, she serves on the board of 2 non-profits, mentors through various organizations, and enjoys volunteering with organizations that prepare individuals for careers in tech. Tyshara has been an active member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. for the last 19 years.
